COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the posts that participated in the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. We had a Patriot’s Pen winner from Webster Middle School and the Voice of Democracy winner is a Fairport High student.

Our latest membership report shows that we have 337 annual dues paid members. We require 416 members to be at 100%. We need 79 new or reinstated members and with 19 posts, that is an average of four per post. We should all strive to accomplish this. I look forward to your support in this matter.

The Ladies Auxiliaries in Monroe County supports a lot of programs we initiate. The women in blue are usually there whenever we need them. In fact, they submitted three of seven Voice of Democracy entries.

We still have two or three posts that have not paid their County dues. Please do so as soon as possible.

Please note that Monroe County Council has a new Quartermaster, Dennis Eccleston from Greece Post # 4658. We welcome him and wish him well.

The County is currently compiling the annual ad book to be considered for distribution at the Commanders and President’s Dinner. Last year only five posts took ads in the book. I do not believe that is enough participation and would appreciate all posts taking part in the annual Commander’s Dinner and ad book. Dates will be sent in the next newsletter.

The Pearl Harbor survivors will have their annual ceremony at the Rochester Yacht Club on the east side of the river at 0755 AM December 7th. I hope many posts are present to show their respect. There will be a $4 breakfast at The Dorsey Road American Legion Post immediately following the ceremony.

Poppy orders are increasing and it is anticipated that each post distribute at least 500 poppies.

Inspections are 80% complete and will be finished mid December. I wish to thank all posts for their cooperation in this matter.

The community service reports are slowly coming in and being acknowledged. I need to mention that last year, 11 posts did not file a single report. I do hope there is greater participation this year.

The County Council Chairmanships still have many vacancies. There are at least six positions at the County level so please invite posts members who may be interested to join us on the first Tuesday of the month.

As we approach the holiday season, I would like to wish you, your members, and all of your families a Happy Joyous Holiday and a Healthy and safe New Year.

In Comradeship

Don Makely, Commander

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Sisters;

At our next monthly meeting of the Monroe County Council scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, at 12:30 PM, Department President, Cindy Campbell, will be making her official visit. I hope you have contacted your auxiliary sisters and asked them to attend the meeting to meet President Cindy.

Prior to President Cindy attending our December meeting, she will be visiting the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital at 10 AM. At the conclusion of the hospital visit, President Cindy and those attending the tour will meet at Danforth Community Center for a light lunch at 12:30 PM; and our regular business meeting will immediately follow.

Please remember to bring any small toys (cars, trucks, dolls, stuffed animals) that you have collected to be sent to the children in Kabani, Iraq to the December meeting and report to the Youth Chairman.

The next District Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2 PM at the Geneva Post Home, District President, Beverly Gister, is asking to bring “Toys for Tots” to the meeting.

On December 7 and 25, please “fly your flag” to show your patriotism as they are considered patriotic holidays.

I am happy to report that as of November 24th, membership for Monroe County Council has achieved 86.82% and we are still in 3rd place among all the department county councils. District 8 still remains in 1st place for membership and has achieved 81.37%.       We only need 58 more membership dues for Monroe County Council to achieve 100%. The Department currently has achieved 78.19%. Your help in sending in membership dues as soon as you receive them so that we can help Department President Cindy reach her 85% by December 20th will be very much appreciated. As Department Membership Chairman, thank you for your support.

Lastly, I ask that you please continue to keep our sisters in your prayers especially those that are ill.

From my Family to yours, I wish everyone a very “Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.” Always remember if “United We Stand for our Veterans and their Families, Our Dreams Become Rainbows”.
